2 Benefits of Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness Meditation is an excellent wellness practice. Not only does it provide an opportunity to rest the body, but it also allows you to notice thinking habits and calm the mind.
Today is a particularly poignant day to take some time out, reflect, release, and remember all of those who were lost on this day in 2001.
What am I talking about? Â
First, taking a physical time out. You can do mindfulness meditation virtually anywhere. In my day, I like to take some time and lie down on the floor. Allow my body to be supported by the ground, imagining the soft tissue melting over the skeleton as I breathe.
Second, noticing your thinking patterns. In my case, these include the cataclysmic narratives my mind is so good at inventing. Once thinking patterns are noticed, you are empowered because you have a choice to allow them to continue or shift and come into the present moment. This is a way to learn to harness the anxious thoughts that can take over an experience.
If you apply this into your practice time or any craft you will come back refreshed and renewed. Taking time, will save you time!
When I started, I was not disciplined enough to take the time out and release the body and mind, so I took advantage of apps. My favorite continues to be the Mindfulness USC app. Mindfulness USC is flexible and it is FREE! Mediations from 1 - 20 minutes are linked in the meditation section.  For performers, it even has a set of meditations on performance anxiety.Â
You are worth a few minutes every day, your artistry deserves it.
