I have been thinking about bones and joints and their movement. This is a powerful way into the “how” of whatever you are doing, it is also a way to pay attention in the moment.
Yesterday I had you imagine, today & tomorrow I want you to do more, I want you to FEEL the movement. Here are two ways to practice.
First, notice how contact changes with the floor, shoe, or clothing.
Second, tune into the feeling of movement inside through the kinesthetic sense. If you close your eyes and wiggle your fingers, you can tell a lot about their movement without seeing it. Things like, how fast fingers are moving, the distance they move, the shape of hand can be sensed. You can even compare the movement of two fingers in relation to each other.
This weekend, feel the movement from the inside. Building on the awareness of feet from yesterday, expand your awareness to include ankle, knee, and hip joints. Do some test movements with eyes closed. What do you notice?
Then, do something simple, like make a sound and tune into the movement as you do. What is it like to notice the movement as you make sound? Expand your awareness to include the sound - anything new?
Be curious…
