The only thing I was ever told about feet was that they should point to 12 and 2 on a clock when I stand to play. As I learned about feet, I realized there is oh so much more to them than where they point, and that they influence how we breathe, move our arms and where our head is when we play.
Feet are the foundation of the body and dictate how much flexibility we have when we move. If they are tight, that tension travels up through muscles and soft tissue limiting everything we do. As you read this, scrunch up your toes and notice how this smallish movement at the end of your leg changes SO much, glutes, abs, back, ribs, neck.
Today’s cue is to help you recognize the connections from feet through your body. You will probably notice it most in the legs. You can do this movement at virtually ANY time (standing in line at the grocery store perhaps) and it will awaken connections through your body that will help you to move more efficiently with greater coordination.
You can also do this movement as you play, hmmm? Be curious…
