Happy New Year! We made it to 2021. I hope that my ideas helped make 2020 a little more bearable. It looks like things will be changing again this year. I have some great classes coming up this year to help you prepare for your return to performing.
First, A TIP - SENSE YOUR SPACE
As you prepare to deliver instrument, deliver hands, or take the inhalation notice the space you are in. Turn on your peripheral or panoramic vision. Sense the space above and behind you. As you play, imagine your sound blanketing every nook and cranny of the room.
Upcoming Course…
I want to invite you to join me and my movement pal, Drew Ricciardi for What Every Musician Needs to Know About the Body (WEM) on January 30/31 & February 6/7. Over four days we will take a deep dive into the WEM course and movement that will help you understand and embody the concepts. This is going to be great! Â
Movement holds the solutions to expressive and technical obstacles. Our Body Mapping course will give you the tools to approach your playing and problem solving through the body, making more of your practice time while showing you how to use daily life and a learning laboratory to support your artistry.
Each day we’ll be together for 3-hours to dive deep in basic anatomy to fine-tune your body maps. We’ll cover…
Optimizing Awareness
Dynamic Balance
Breathing Structures & Movements
Connecting the Whole Arm
Support from the Legs
You will apply concepts into playing and move away from the instrument to find connections in yourself. The connections can be the key to bigger breaths, more confidence, reliable technique, flexible sound, and more.
This course can serve as the pre-req for applying to the ABME training program and is offered through The Empowered Musician. All classes will be recorded for viewing by participants after the live sessions. Course fee is $245.Â
Quotes from past course participants…
" I had an extraordinary experience ...with the expert guidance of Vanessa and Drew, I felt a deeper connection to my instrument than I have in years."
FINALLY, As we see a light at the end of this tunnel, strengthen your playing and unleash your artistry by turning your practice upside down. Stay tuned for more lenses to bring to your playing!
