I have been thinking a lot about standing strong and speaking up both on stage and in the current moment. The strong I refer to is not muscular strength, it is the strength that comes from being in your body in the present moment. You can learn to access this strength in difficult moments.
Start by imagining the bones and joints within your body. There are 206 beautiful bones in your body, 52 of which reside in your feet (that’s more than 20%.)  Close your eyes and picture how the 26 bones in each foot connect you to the ground. They are solid bones of many shapes and sizes. This is so much more than the singular foot with 5 toes sticking off the front. Â
Next, imagine the flexibility which the 33 joints that these 26 bones offer. Your foot can take the contour of almost any surface, it also allows you to locomotive over and around a myriad of obstacles.
The bones and joints of your feet allow you to stand firmly on the ground in the face of fear, intimidation, and challenge. Whether on stage, in a protest, or confronting someone, allow the 26 bones of each foot to release to the ground so you can stand strong and share your music and your voice.
Today, notice how your feet relate to the ground and how this influence sound, poise, movement, and confidence,
